It hadn’t been a screeching halt, more a gradual loss of impetus. A barely noticeable slowing down.
One day, she realised that she was living by a different creed; never do today what you can put off until tomorrow. The dreams she had talked so much about when she was young and energetic were now lost in the wind. She was never going to be famous; she was never even going to be slim again.
She hunched over her laptop and took solace in the pictures and status updates of her old school friends. She may not have achieved what she said she would, but she could find some vindication in the fact that they hadn’t, either.
Thus comforted, she perked up a little bit. She had some virtual crops to harvest.
