Some of you may be expecting a story from me tomorrow, seeing as it’s Wednesday.
Some of you may be aware that this Wednesday, January 18th, will see a fairly widespread blackout of the internet, including some very large sites like Reddit, Wikipedia and the Cheezburger network, in protest against the proposed SOPA and PIPA bills in the US.
I’m not American, but based on the information I’ve read, that’s not going to mean SOPA and PIPA wouldn’t affect me, because the internet is global.
At the same time, as a writer, I’m all for the idea of having a better way to combat copyright theft – but the operative word there is “better”. I don’t believe this is it.
That’s why I won’t be posting a story here this Wednesday, January 18th.
(But check back on Thursday!
)

Be happy you are not an American. They are not all they are what they are made out to be.

It should, of course, read “They are not all what they are made out to be.
